THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND: BROTHERS AND SISTERS
Ironically, the band's first post-Duane record was also its most commercially successful: it topped the album charts, went gold, and featured a major hit - Betts' feel-good, up-tempo "Ramblin' Man," which not only finally put the Allman Brothers in the Top 40, but soared all the way to #2. It's no surprise; the band was a well-oiled machine by now, crafting energetic, tuneful, and economical material. This was the first album to feature the group's new lineup, with Chuck Leavell on keyboards and Lamar Williams on bass, as well as Dickey Betts' emergence as a singer alongside Gregg Allman.
