AVERAGE WHITE BAND: SOUL SEARCHING

Average White Band's artistic winning streak continued with its outstanding fourth album, Soul Searching. This album is possessed of a much more fluid and jazzier funk flavored groove than the previous AWB albums had. The bands instrumental signatures are all still present. In fact, what makes this such a beautiful album is that all the elements they were going for earlier are all coming to a head on this album. The instrumentation is a lot of musical adventures as there's more tendencies towards improvisation here than staying locked right on the one. It's an example of a harmonic and melodic end of their funk that would basically typify what the band would sound like for the remainder of the 70's. This music has withstood the test of time as it still captivates today.
