BEE GEES: ONE

The Bee Gees re-emerged in 1987 after a quiet period commercially (although they had continued to be prolific in penning hits for Dionne Warwick, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, and Diana Ross). The E.S.P album with the big hit "You Win Again" marked the beginning of a new recording phase for the Bee Gees of well produced adult contemporary pop music. 1989's "One" continues in similar style with less use of the disco-era falsetto and a focus on Barry Gibb's breathy and tender lead vocals, as well as the distinct sound of Robin's. As always, the polished harmonies are still prominent here. One is an album dedicated to their brother Andy and has a few songs in that vein.
