LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT: LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT

Blisteringly self-indulgent and stupidly unapproachable to the untrained ear, Liquid Tension Experiment's debut album misses the mark by several miles when it comes to mainstream content, but that's not the point of this album. The fact of the matter is that this is an excellent instrumental prog metal album performed by four excellent musicians. Not above reproach, but certainly worth a listen. It's awesome, and though much was improvised, these definitely sound like songs that were written, not made up on the spot. The music is highly enjoyable, but probably only for musicians or people who really appreciate and love awesome musicianship.
