SLADE: WALL OF HITS

Like so many of the big UK groups of the 1970's, Slade's roots began in the mid 60's recording firstly as The N' Betweens then briefly as Ambrose Slade before finding fame as simply Slade. After fading from the limelight in the mid 70's they hit on a second wave of success via the NWoBHM scene in 1979/80. Throughout the seventies, Slade became one of Europe's biggest bands, touring and recording continually and making regular trips to America, Japan and other parts of the world. Without doubt one of the most exciting bands to come out of Great Britain in the past 30 years. With their unique blend of perfect pop-rock'n'roll, outrageous flamboyance and pure fun, Slade have become a firm favourite in the hearts of pop fans all over the world. While they achieved little success in The United States, they inspired many rock bands that would go on to be legends in their own right.

By no means the first (or last) ever Slade hits collection, Wall Of Hits is nevertheless the only one you truly need, a solid roundup of every British Top Ten smash the band ever scored, plus a smattering of lesser-rated (but equally deserving) Top 20 entries. Between 1971 and 1975, Slade slammed 17 songs into the chart, including half a dozen number ones and six more that peaked between number two and number four.
