TED NUGENT

Ted Nugent is a stalwart American hard rock singer, songwriter, and guitarist who is as divisive as he is legendary. Throughout his lengthy career, the Motor City Madman has reveled in the controversy and criticism that always seem to follow in his path - his pro-right-wing beliefs and pro-gun advocacy have caused condemnation from his detractors - but his wildman persona and knack for penning arena rock anthems made him one of the biggest rock stars of the late '70s and early '80s. Emerging in the 1960s with the psych-rock combo the Amboy Dukes, Theodore Anthony Nugent, (born December 13, 1948), eventually went solo, issuing multi-platinum albums like Cat Scratch Fever and Double Live Gonzo!

He is also noted for his vocal conservative political views and his ardent defense of hunting, conservation, Second Amendment and anti-drug/alcohol abuse activism. Nugent has released more than 34 albums, which have sold more than 30 million copies. He was known throughout his early career in the '70s for using Fender amps, a large part of his signature sound, and is now also famous for playing the semi-hollow Gibson Byrdland. Gibson Guitar Corporation has developed a model named for him.
